Characteristics of the electronic invoice in Singapore

In January 2019 IMDA, as the Peppol authority in Singapore launched its new national e-Invoicing network known as InvoiceNow to digitize the economy and leverage the benefits of e-Invoicing. This in turn helps businesses to improve efficiency, reduce costs and become more sustainable. IMDA strongly promotes the use of e-Invoicing based on Peppol standards.

Companies registered under GST will be required to use the InvoiceNow platform to transmit invoice data directly to the tax authority. This implementation will take place gradually, in several phases:

  • Starting from May 1, 2025: Early voluntary adoption by GST-registered companies.
  • Starting from November 1, 2025: Newly incorporated companies voluntarily registering under GST.
  • Starting from April 1, 2026: For all new voluntary GST registrants.
