Electronic Tax Filing with SAF-T in Poland
The Polish Ministry of Finance requires that Polish companies and any others operating in the country file their VAT tax returns electronically using the JPK_VAT file.
JPK_VAT files are electronic accounting files issued in XML format according to SAF-T, the format developed by the OECD. The Ministry may also require the submission of other electronic accounting documents in SAF-T format at the request of the tax authorities.
This is How Our Solution Works
Obligation to Issue JPK_VAT File
What is JPK_VAT?
This is the electronic VAT reporting file which the Polish Ministry of Finance requires companies in Poland to use.
When is it Mandatory to Generate this File?
It will be mandatory starting on 1 October 2020.
Who is Required to Send JPK_VAT Files?
All taxpayers (large companies, SMEs and micro-enterprises).
How Frequently Must They be Sent?
Companies must issue all information in a single file that is sent monthly on or before the 25th of the month (unless the 25th falls on a weekend or public holiday, in which case they have until the following working day).
Content
The JPK_VAT return file is an electronic document divided into two parts. On the one hand, it contains fields for including VAT records (information on sales and purchases), and on the other hand, fields with the tax data from the VAT returns filed by businesses and individual taxpayers (VAT-7 and VAT-7K returns).
Variations
There are two types of JPK_VAT files, depending on whether the company reports VAT monthly or quarterly. "JPK_V7 M" is for taxpayers who report VAT monthly and "JPK_V7 K" is for taxpayers who report VAT quarterly.
Reporting
The JPK_VAT file must be submitted before the 25th of each month. However, companies must be prepared to electronically issue the following accounting files in the event of an audit: accounting records, bank statements, warehouse data, invoices, tax receipts and expenses, in addition to the income records.
Replacement Files
The new version of the SAF-T JPK_VAT file replaces the following files: VAT-7, VAT-7K, VAT-27, VAT-ZT, VAT-ZZ and VAT-ZD. This will avoid the duplication of information that is currently reported, simplifying the tax filing processes for both the administration and taxpayers.
