EDIHOSP Implements Electronic Invoicing in 16 European Hospitals in Portugal and Hungary
he EDIHOSP e-Invoicing Project achieves its most important milestone: The implementation of eInvoicing in 16 Portuguese and Hungarian hospitals.
The EDIHOSP project is coordinated by EDICOM and co-financed by the European Commission through the 2018 CEF Telecom Call – eInvoicing (CEF-TC-2018-2).
The project promotes the exchange of electronic invoices between European hospitals. With the EDICOM B2B2G Platform, hospitals can now receive and process electronic invoices in accordance with the European Standard.
The implementation considered the specific national and local context for each hospital. The electronic invoice is integrated with the ERP software and uses the PEPPOL network as the main delivery and communication mechanism.
EDICOM has also developed an electronic invoice tool for the SMPS agency, part of the Portuguese Ministry of Health. The Portuguese government processes around 8 million documents each month. The new tool assists them in validating the invoices of regional public hospitals and health centers.
This project contributes to cross-border interoperability and the standardization of public procurement processes around Europe.
EDIHOSP is one of the CEF-funded projects coordinated by EDICOM. Others include GOVeIn, GOV2EU, and HOSP&INVOICE. All these initiatives have the same purpose: to support hospitals from different Member States to comply with the European Directive 2014/55 on electronic invoicing in public procurement.
Electronic invoicing makes transactions easier within each country. It also facilitates cross-border exchange amongst European Member States, promoting commercial collaborations between countries.
